This exhibition showcases an attempt at mapping our complex inner worlds of emotions. Like ancient cartographers who had little to guide them but their own curiosity, courage and willpower, Nicola Fouché visually explores ill-illuminated internal spaces that are difficult to traverse and even harder to map out. She encounters dead ends, circles back, resets the compass, and questions assumptions at every turn. Slowly, through the fog of not-knowing, outlines emerge: we see archetypes of topography – continents are outlined, coastlines, mountain ranges rise up, deltas and deserts appear. This is about a very personal journey; an expedition to the often-neglected spaces of the heart.
In dialogue with Nicola’s paintings, Nora’s contemporary jewellery opens a window into an expressive, otherworldly realm where boundaries dissolve, and lightness and shadow co-exist in the dappled twilight of being.
You are invited to join us for the opening night on Tuesday, the 30th of May 2023 at 7pm.
In our artist talk on the 1st of June, at 7 pm, we will delve a little deeper into the exhibited work and the stories behind our explorations. Both Nicola Fouché and Nora Kovats will be present. Kindly let us know if you wish to attend this event, since our studio space is somewhat limited.
TOPOGRAPHY OF EMOTION will run from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June 2023, opened daily from 2 pm to 7pm.

Eine Dialogausstellung von Nicola Fouché (Malerei) und Nora Kovats (Schmuckgestaltung). Die Künstlerinnen kartographieren – jeweils in ihrem eigenen Medium – eine komplexe innere Welt der Emotionen. So beginnt eine Forschungsreise; schwer Fassbares wird visuell umgesetzt und es lichten sich Umrisse aus dem Nebel – Kontinente, Küsten, Gebirge, Deltas, Wüsten werden erkennbar.
